Cutting Through the AI Hype: Hands-On Insights and Demos

Avo Consulting
Eirik Hop, Head of AI. Anker Albert , Developer and Integration Specialist
AI is everywhere—dominating headlines, driving discussions at conferences, and shaping boardroom strategies. Yet, while the promises from tech companies are grand, many businesses are still searching for tangible ways to turn AI into real business value. To harness its true potential, we need to cut through the hype and focus on what AI can—and cannot—do.
This isn’t another theory-heavy session. Instead, get ready for a hands-on, interactive experience filled with live demos and real use cases. Together, we’ll explore different AI technologies, put them to the test, and showcase how they can be applied to business challenges—tailored to the interests and needs of the audience.
Our goal is simple: You’ll walk away with concrete ideas—and maybe even a plan—for how AI can create value in your organization. No buzzwords, just real technology solving real problems.

Managing climate risk across sectors

NHH
Linda Nøstbakken, research director at Statistics Norway, and professor at Norwegian School of Economics
Climate change is no longer a distant treat; its impacts are increasingly evident, with more frequent and severe extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and shifting weather patterns. These changes involve significant risks that extend beyond the physical environment, including financial, regulatory, and strategic risks for both businesses and governments.
This workshop will explore climate risk in its various forms, both physical risks and transition risks driven by policy and regulatory changes, technological innovation, and market shifts. We will discuss why stress testing is an important tool for understanding vulnerabilities and identifying opportunities. Finally, participants will examine specific cases to explore how different industries can manage climate risk.

Cyber protection of critical infrastructure and industrial assets – can it be done?

DNV
Haakon Knudsen (Principal Consultant DNV Cyber). Boye Tranum (Director Cyber Security)
With rising global turmoil, cyber security threats are escalating across sectors. Many organizations find themselves in an arms race against increasingly sophisticated threats, dedicating significant resources to IT security while often overlooking Operational Technology (OT) – the systems managing industrial processes and critical infrastructure.
Unlike IT, OT was designed in an era with minimal cyber security considerations, making it harder to implement secure solutions. Cultural differences between IT and OT teams further complicate collaboration, making a unified cyber defense strategy essential.
In this interactive workshop, DNV will share insights from years of experience in OT security, discussing effective strategies to minimize cyber risks.

Leveraging (Gen)AI: From Hype to Reality

London Business School
Michael G. Jacobides, Professor at London Business School
It is hard to overstate the excitement with and hype around GenAI. As the technology is advancing with leaps and bounds, corporate decision makers rush to seek an AI-strategy in the hope of at least some quick wins. Yet overall, real impact of GenAI on productivity and profitability is still hard to come by. What explains this gap between hype and reality?
Prof Jacobides will draw on cutting edge-research and engagement with practice to summarize where things stand, before working with the participants to consider their own experiences with (Gen)AI, and what they see as the main impediments or enablers for realizing (Gen)AI value.
This workshop will help participants ask the right questions, learn from each other, and identify the sources of value for this important if tricky new technology.

Navigating choppy waters – trade and transport in turbulent times

NHH
Stig Tenold, Professor of Economic History, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs
Pax Americana is definitely history. A world order built around cooperative, liberal institutions created a record-long period of prosperity.
Now things are different – the global economy is in flux. What does a tariff war imply for the world economy in general, and for trade and shipping in particular? Can we learn anything from history?
Drawing on international politics, economics and history, Professor Stig Tenold facilitates a discussion of the “new” geopolitical landscape and its implications for trade and shipping.
