Amani Abou-Zeid
Commissioner Energy & Infrastructure and the African Union Commission
Amani Abou-Zeid is Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission (AUC). She is responsible for the sectors covering energy, transport, tourism and ICT. Abou-Zeid is a leading expert in international development and has served Africa in various senior positions for over 30 years, mainly within international organizations such as AfDB, UNDP and USAID.
Her work has focused on leading large international programs, as well as establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships. Her leadership has, among other things, helped to promote investments in renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions, which is crucial at a time of increasing focus on climate challenges and energy transition
Amani Abou-Zeid has received a number of international awards and recognitions for her leadership and excellence, including the “Officier de l'Ordre de Wissam Alaouite” from His Majesty King Mohamed VI of Morocco.
